HOUR ONE

-The show opened with the NQCC and Oba Femi, respectively, showing up at the venue. Joe Hendry and Trick Williams were also spotted entering the building. A black SUV rolled in with North American Champ, Ricky Saints, inside, who made his way into the Performance Center. Saints made his way directly to the announcer booth.

-Ethan Page’s attack on Saints last week was shown.

(1) JE’VON EVANS vs. ASHANTE ADONIS vs. SEAN LEGACY

Adonis kicked off the match by throwing his entrance gear at Evans. Evans and Legacy teamed up to toss Adonis out of the ring before mixing it up themselves. Adonis tried getting back into the action, but was thrown out of the ring again by his two opponents within seconds.

Legacy and Evans continued to fight in the ring at a fast work rate. Adonis managed to take control of the match, keeping his two opponents on their toes. Evans hit a suicide dive on his opponents with a pretty scary landing, though the Bouncy Boy bounced right up to his feet and jumped into the crowd to celebrate before commercial (c).

Booker T was extra over the top on commentary, with Graves and Joseph calling him out for it. Booker said “The coffee was good today, awwww yeah man!” Joseph told him not to forget his blood pressure medication.

Adonis pinned both men at the same time after giving Legacy a spinebuster onto Evans, both men kicked out. Adonis looked to “Tune up the band” in the corner a la Shawn Michaels, but missed the superkick on Legacy. Evans delivered a superkick to Adonis, Legacy then hit a standing Spanish Fly on Evans. The pin was broken up by Adonis.

The three men continued to fire on all cylinders with false finishes and high spots galore until Ethan Page attacked Saints at the announce desk. Evans saw what was going on and hit a suicide dive on Page. This allowed Legacy to hit a reverse Death Valley Driver on Adonis for the win.

Winner: Sean Legacy in approx 11:30

-Mr. Stone, Stevie Turner and Ava were backstage praising Legacy and Evolve. Ava told them to go out there and get the situation under control with Saints and Page. Then the winners of LFG, Jasper Troy and Tyra Mae Steele walked in and handed in their signed contracts. Jasper said he was going to send a message to NXT tonight. (c).

-A hype video for Jordynne Grace aired showing her intense workout routine. She says has respect for the champion, but she’s coming for Stephanie’s title.

-Lola Vice and Stephanie were shown watching that video package, Vice wished her luck. Fatal Influence, minus Jasmyn Nyx, walked into the shot and said that Vice was sucking up to the champ. She took offense to this, leading to a match between Henley and Vice later tonight.

– Trick Williams grabbed a mic backstage and made his way to the ring for his rap segment. He wasn’t bad. But he’s no Harry Mack (google him if you aren’t familiar). His chorus was “I ain’t backin’ down to an average Joe.” While the rapping wasn’t the worst I’ve ever heard… Trick Williams should stick to his day job of entertaining us as a fantastic pro-wrestler. Frankly, this was a bit of a waste of time as far as I’m concerned.

-Joe Hendry was shown backstage preparing for his musical segment later in the night.

(2) JOSH BRIGGS vs. SHAWN SPEARS

The two men circled one another for a few moments before locking up. Briggs backed Spears into the corner before the two spent a few moments trading offense in said corner before a commercial break.

Back from break, Briggs was in control of the match and took Spears down with a massive clothesline. Spears tried to out muscle Briggs, but was met with a scoop slam for his troubles. Briggs taunted towards the crowd and tried to attack, Spears rolled out of the ring. Briggs chased him and attacked him ringside, sending his head into the apron. Spears reversed a scoop slam and sent Briggs headfirst into the ringpost before rolling him back into the ring.

Spears hit a neckbreaker and covered, barely managed to get to one before Briggs kicked out. Spears trash talked Briggs, which seemed to fire Briggs up. He hit Spears with a few clotheslines, a back breaker and then went for a chokeslam which was reversed. Spears threw Briggs out of the ring and then tried to hit him  with a cross body. Briggs caught him and fall away slam into the announce table. The Culling interfered allowing Spears to pick up the win shortly thereafter.

The Culling beat Briggs down after the match.

Winner: Shawn Spears in 5:30

-Hank and Tank ran down to save Briggs.

-Kelani Jordan asked Sol Ruca if she beat Zaria tonight if she would get a match for her title at Battleground. Sol said yes, Zaria said she’d never win.

-chase U were prepping for their match against OTM

A million dollars from now, I will remember you. Does this get stuck in anyone else’s head for the rest of the week?

-Thea Hail approached Tatum Paxley backstage and asked why she attacked her. Then Jaida Parker attacked her before making fun of Paxley.

(3) CHASE U vs. OTM

Kale Dixon started things off for Chase U against Lucien Price. Uriah Connor tagged in and was basically flattened by the larger opponents. Dixon and Price would get some offense in on occasion, but Price and Bronco Nima would overcome them at almost every turn.

Dixon and Connors overpowered Price for a bit with some double team offense, but were stopped when Price tagged in Nima. Nima tagged Price back in who used Connors as a weapon to take out Dixon for the win.

Winners: OTM in 3:10

-Myles Borne was shown in a suit walking backstage to meet Oba Femi in the ring in their final face off before Battleground. (c)

-Borne and Femi met in the ring for their final showdown. Femi said he didn’t know if Borne was stupid or brave, but thats how he made it this far. Femi recognized that this is a fight for all disabled people who look up to Borne. He said that life is cruel and good things don’t always happen to good people and that this isn’t a Disney happy ending.

Borne said that not just the NQCC has his back, he has an entire community behind him. It’s more than winning a title. It’s about making a statement. He’s been underestimated his entire life and always overcame the odds, as he will at Battleground. This might not be a Disney movie… but every ruler must eventually fall.

Jasper Troy attacked Femi, making the statement he said he would. Then he comically tripped over the stairs while trying to escape from Borne trying to save Femi. Borne then held up the NXT title before handing it to the champion.

Ava was surrounded by security and screaming at Saints and Page for attacking each other earlier in the night. They all yelled at one another, Saints finally said he would put the title on the line at Battleground. Ava made it official before throwing them out.

-Tony D’Angelo was sitting at his table at the restaurant, talking into the camera as if it was Stacks. He called him out for destroying the family.

(4) LOLA VICE vs. FALLON HENLEY (w/Jacy Jayne)

The two women locked up and jockeyed for position for the first few moments of the match before Henley backed Vice into the corner. Vice fought out and pelted Henley with kicks to the mid section. She then locked in a leg lock on Henley, who managed to escape. Vice then put the submission right back on her. My stream then turned into a pixelated mess, so I couldn’t see what was happening, but it sounded like Henley made it back to her feet and knocked Vice down.

When Netflix finally buffered (downside of using a VPN and Netflix…) Vice had locked an arm bar on Henley, who made it to the bottom rope to escape. Henley whipped Vice off the ropes, who reversed with a headscissors takedown. Henley took a powder, and attacked Vice when Vice came after her. (c)

After the commercial break, Henley was solidly in control and was throughout the picture in picture break. As if by magic, Vice knew we were returning from commercial break and managed to overcome Henley with a kick to the midsection, followed by a second. Vice missed a clothesline, allowing Henley to overcome with one of her own and made a cover for two.

Both women had the same idea, clotheslining one another. As they were trying to stand, they traded forearms to the dome. Eventually Vice overcame with a series of kicks to her opponent. The two traded offense, back and forth, for the next few minutes. Finally, around the 11 minute mark, Jacy Jayne tried to make a distraction. Vice sent Henley into the Jayne who was standing on the ropes, then hit Henley with a backfist for the win.

Winner: Lola Vice in 11:25

Jayne and Henley were screaming at each other after the match, foreshadowing a potential breakup? This could check out, as this is the second week without Jasmyn Nyx anywhere to be found.

-Stephanie Vaquer was interviewed backstage by Kelly Kincaid. Vaquer talked more about her history and journey to NXT before shifting focus to her toughest challenge yet, Jordynne Grace at Battleground.

-Dark State hype video was shown and named Dion Lennox as the leader.

(5) KELANI JORDAN vs. ZARIA

Zaria started the match with a couple massive German Suplexes before backing Jordan into the corner with shoulder thrusts. She continued her onslaught on Jordan for a few moments before missing a spear and hitting the ringpost. She took a powder to the outside, and Jordan hit her with a suicide dive. Jordan threw her into the steps before throwing her back into the ring. She hit a top rope cross body on Zaria for a near fall.

Jordan hit a headscissors, but Zaria reversed it and tried to hit a fallaway slam. Jordan turned it into a sleeper hold, and then continued to stay in control of Zaria for a few moments.

Zaria went back outside and then swung Jordan into the barricade before a commercial break. (c)

Back from break, Zaria was still in control. But, as it always happens, the person not in control became the one in control as the commercial is over. So Jordan immediately took control with a DDT (Yay formulaic television!).

This took the wind out of both women, and they traded blows while getting back to their feet. Zaria finally took control and shoved Jordan to the mat. Jordan stood up and then did some flippy stuff to knock Zaria down. She looked for a tornado DDT but Zaria stopped her. She tried again and connected, but Zaria kicked out.

Jordan went to the top rope and missed a splash, but landed on her feet. She rolled Zaria up for a two count. Zaria hit her with a clothesline and then cannonballed Jordan into the corner. Jordan then reversed just about everything Zaria threw at her. Sol Ruca was giving Zaria a pep talk, Kelani hit her into Zaria and then threw Zaria into the ring. Sol went to the apron and was hit by Zaria by accident, Kelani rolled Zaria up in the confusion for the win.

Winner: Zaria in 10:32

-Joe Hendry was already in the ring for his concert coming back from commercial break. Hendry wasn’t too fond of Trick’s musical performance earlier in the night and dedicated his song to Trick. The song was catchy and in a similar vein to all of his other concerts both in and out of NXT. In the song, he said he obtained footage from the good old days when he was a sidekick to Carmelo Hayes. He played some footage of Trick and Melo scared in  a haunted house, with Hendry’s head super imposed on one of the creepies inside of the haunted house. Trick screamed and ran away in the video.

This caused Trick to come out, upset that Hendry was bringing up the past. The crowd chanted “Melo’s Bitch!” as Trick entered the ring. Trick attacked Hendry and hit the Trick Shot. He went for a second Trick Shot, and Hendry hit him with the guitar, followed by a massive chokeslam. Hendry picked up the mic and finished his song “And at the end of the day, Hendry is the champion of TNA!” as the show went off the air.
